Match Reports

September 7th 2014 - ASA SW Inter-County Water Polo Championships

Five players from Penzance joined six from Newquay to

represent Cornwall men's water polo team, at the inter

county event at Millfield recently. Cornwall proved

unbeatable winning all three matches against Dorset 7-3,

Somerset 5-3 and Wiltshire 6-5. Ben May and Anthony

Stevenson were joint top scorers for Cornwall each

netting 5 goals, George Hollis proved invaluable with his

speed and fitness, while Elliot Murphy's national league

experience was always evident. Tom Foreman who lives

in Penzance, but still plays for his boyhood club Newquay

was tireless in his effort for the team. It was the first

time for many years a full Cornwall team has been

assembled, and it proved to be a successful and

enjoyable day for all.

May 17th 2014 - Junior Water Polo.

Penzance under 12s and under 16s recently took part in a water polo tournament at St Austell. The under 12s were clearly in a league of their own, winning both games against Newquay and St Austell.
A very young under 16s side played exceptionally well, beating Newquay and losing to St Austell by one goal.
Under 12 team - Alex Barrett, Oscar Beckerleg, Harvey Beckerleg, Alex Hosking, Sam Oliver and Murray Stevenson
Under 16 team - Jasmine Collins, Tyler Kearey, Toby Osborne, Mawgan Osborne, Jodi Stephens, James Lambourn and Fletcher Stevenson

Well done to all who took part.

April 2014

Penzance senior men's water polo side have regained a title they last won 12 years ago.
Played through a series of tournaments at respective pools, they finished ahead of Barnstaple, Newquay, Devonport and Okehampton.
Neil Eddy and Ben May scored a good percentage of the 123 totals goals scored by Penzance, but the success was down to a good mix of youth and experience combining well during some very tight matches.
Water polo is seeing somewhat of a revival in Cornwall, Penzance have up to 50 players, ranging from seniors on a Friday night to juniors on a Sunday evening.

Congratulations to all who took part.
